UKU Club Open & Women's Indoor Nationals 2016/17

COWIN 2016/17 will be held on this date at the frankly incredible Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility near Motherwell.
The venue boasts a 105x68m indoor 3G football pitch, with all the amenities you could ask for - bleacher seating down one side, balcony, cafe etc. They even thought to have that huge window you see above be north-facing and away from the sun...
We will run this event on 4 pitches, each a full 40x20m, and each with at least 5m clearance on all sides.
Really, there is no venue like this in the whole of England that we can currently access, so the trip to Scotland (approx 4.5 hours from Birmingham, as an example) is well worth it.
The venue hosted University Indoor Nationals this year, and extensive feedback showed that on average (and not even including the feedback from Scottish teams!) people would happily travel to this venue for that event every two years (and indeed they're going to, as we just booked it for UMWIN 2018). Many teams even from 7 or 8 hours away said they would be happy to come every year.
That student event had 6 pitches of around 36x18m as shown above, so this one with only 4 big pitches and ample surrounding space will be even better. If you don't live in Scotland, you've probably never seen indoors like this before.
We will write the schedule with a long saturday (9am-9pm, split in half so that no team plays all day) and a shorter sunday, with the intention of getting everyone on the road south by around 3-4pm.
We hope to provide SOME floor-space accommodation for teams who really need it; please only ask if you really have no other option!
Entries are now open for the Women's event, through the UKU Entry Form, and will cost £130. The initial closing date will be 9th December 2016, at which time we'll be able to confirm places for entered teams such that they can plan their transport etc. Any spaces remaining after that will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
We do not require payment upfront in order to secure your spot, but any team still on the list as of that closing date will be liable for at least 50% of the fees even if they later drop out, and any team still signed up 28 days before the event (21st Jan 2017) will be expected to pay in full (the 'main contact' from the entry form will be held responsible if there is no formal club that we can chase for the fees!). This is much more strict than usual, of course, but we feel it is very important for any replacement teams, who fill your spot, to have sufficient time to organise their travel. It's obviously not fair to take up a space that someone else might want but then to dropout too late for them to fill it! Do make sure you have a team and a robust plan before you commit.
If the event is over-subscribed at the closing date the following rules will apply, in order
· Teams not on the blacklist (for late dropouts at previous events) will get priority over those who are
· Teams finishing in the top half of the same event in the previous year will be given priority.
· First teams will NOT get priority over second teams - it is so easy to simply change the name of a 'second team' to avoid such a rule, which would disadvantage those 'proper' clubs who have a real identity.
· Teams will be awarded spaces based on the order of DATE (not exact time) that they entered.
If there remain too many teams - which cannot be separated by the above - for the remaining places, a lottery will be run for ONLY those inseparable teams, for those places.

Entries are encouraged from all teams who attended regionals, regardless of finishing position, as we do anticipate that some higher finishing teams will struggle to arrange travel. The top 6 from any of the four regionals are guaranteed entry if they fill the form before the closing date, and other successful teams will have their places confirmed after the deadline.
