UK Ultimate Nationals 2011

nationals2011logoThe UK Ultimate Nationals 2011 will be held in Southampton on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 August. The very best club teams from around the UK will compete for the title of Nationals Champions.

There have been ultimate teams and championships in the UK since the 1970s, but 2011 sees the second edition of a new showcase for the sport. The explosion in the number of competitive clubs in recent years means that teams had to win a place at Nationals by competing in regional qualifying events. The 16 open teams who will compete in Southampton include the likes of 2009 European Champions, Manchester's Chevron, and the reigning UK champions, Clapham. The south London team will be gunning for their 11th title in a row! Among the other clubs include teams from Brighton, Newcastle, Cardiff, Scotland and the host city, Southampton.

In the women's division it is another London team who have dominated in recent years, but last year Leeds finally beat Iceni to snap their 5-year streak and take their first Nationals title.

Coach Educators Needed

The UK Ultimate coaching scheme is looking to recruit a handful of new coach educators to the support the delivery of our Foundation level courses (Leader Award and Sports Leader Award). UK Ultimate has recently been working with an organisation called the Youth Sport Trust and their corporate partners Matalan. As a result we are expecting a bump in the numbers of schools looking for foundation introductory courses, in the summer term around May and June.
