UK Ultimate thanks Hyperion, GB Sponsors
UK Ultimate thanks Hyperion Insurance Group as team sponsor of the GB Men at the World Ultimate and Guts Championships in London. The partnership brought much-needed financial support to the team ahead of the largest WUGC to date.
The sponsorship enabled the GB Men’s squad to make use of first-class pitches for training, a squad physio for all tournaments and training, strength and conditioning coaching and nutritional supplements, as well as subsidising a number of player’s travel requirements. The sponsorship also supported the provision of branded kit and training gear, which the players were wearing throughout the tournament.
Si Hill, CEO of UK Ultimate, said: “Securing a sponsor as prestigious as Hyperion Insurance Group is a terrific coup for UK Ultimate that gave the GB Men’s squad a significant boost to make a very real challenge at the World Championships in London. It also paves the way for future sponsorship of other GB teams by demonstrating the benefits of sponsorship to both sponsor and squad a like. WUGC 2016 was the biggest and best championships to date and we were delighted to have Hyperion on the journey with us.”
As a high-growth UK-headquartered business operating in many international markets, Hyperion sought to sponsor a GB team in a fast-growing sport that is played on an international stage. There are a number of parallels between Hyperion as a business and Ultimate as a sport. Hyperion’s employee-ownership model, combined with its scale and international reach, distinguish the insurance group from its competitors, whilst Ultimate’s unique approach of placing the responsibility of fair play on the players and being self-refereed make it stand out amongst other competitive sports. Importantly, the values that underpin the sport, as referred to in the ‘Spirit of the Game’, are closely aligned to Hyperion’s own corporate values.
