GB Strike Gold in Copenhagen

GB managed to equal their record medal haul at the European Championships when they traveled to Copenhagen to take on the rest of Europe. For the first time countries were competing across 5 divisions and GB were represented in each of them.

GB Masters Open got the ball rolling by taking Bronze in their division with a convincing 17-9 win against Germany in the 3v4 playoff.

GB Masters Women managed to put a disappointing semi-final defeat on universe point behind them and rallied to beat Denmark 17-4 and claim Bronze. They also won the Spirit Prize for their division.

GB Women finished 5th despite winning 9 out of their 10 games. Unfortunetely a quarter-final defeat to Italy meant that they could only finish as high as 5th but they showed great spirit to claim that place.

Then came golden Sunday. In the Mixed Final GB took on Ireland, who had claimed the title at Windmill in their build up to EUC. But GB managed to win the final 17-12 to claim Gold.

In the Open final GB took on Germany, who had also gone through the tournament undefeated. In an exciting match GB managed to come through 17-14 to win the Gold.

Thank you to all tournament organisers, volunteers and medical team for making such a good event. The pictures are courtesy of Claerwen Snell, Phil Garner and Paul Cronin.
