UKU to host 2015 World U23 Ultimate Championships

UK Ultimate is proud to be hosting the WFDF 2015 World Under 23 Ultimate Championships.  We look forward to welcoming approx 50 Ultimate teams from 20+ countries.  The Opening Ceremony will take place in the afternoon of Sunday 12th July, with finals day on Sat 18th July.  The competition - including opening ceremony and finals - will take place at UCL Sports Ground, Bell Lane, St Albans AL2 1BZ - the home of UKU's London Calling.

We are currently recruiting for a number of lead volunteer positions to support the Tournament Organising Committee in planning the event.  Please read this document for more details.  To apply for one of the positions please fill in this Google form http://goo.gl/cwOVHb but do read the role descriptions first.

Volunteer project coordinator - please help

We have recently been working with the National Federation of Young Farmers Clubs who plan to include Ultimate as one of the sports in their national competition programme 2015-16.  The competition will see county and then regional qualification rounds leading to a finals event during the summer 2016 - and is likely to include betwen 500 and 1000 participants in the 16-26 age-range - almost all of whom will be completely new to Ultimate.  We are looking for an individual that could take on our side of coordinating this project.

Seeking volunteers for Women's Committee

UK Ultimate has been reviewing the role and functioning of its various sub-committees.  In recent years the women’s committee has been formed of largely high level players and had a lack of focus and direction.  We want to create a committee more representative of the women playing Ultimate in the UK at the moment and align it’s goals with the organisation's priorities.

UKU Skills Clinics 2015

UK Ultimate is introducing a new series of skills-based training modules that are aimed at players whilst also adding to our Coach Education programme.  Please read on for more information.

GB Masters Womens Expression of Interest welcomed

We are delighted to have been successful in our bid to manage the GB Women's Masters.

GB Mixed applications welcome

It is a very great pleasure for the GB Mixed Management team to announce details of, and invite applications for, the Great Britain Mixed programme for 2015: please read on if you'd like to see GB Mixed succeed or have an interest in our plans.

GB Senior team appointments

UK Ultimate is pleased to announce the following bids have been successful to run the senior squads for the EUF European Ultimate Championships 2015 and the WFDF World Ultimate & Guts Championships 2016:

Open: Justin Foord, Marc Guilbert
Women’s: Jenna Thompson
Mixed: Rich Hims, Niamh Delaney, Magali Matsumiya, Steve Kolthammer, Sam Vile
Open Masters: Dave Grayson, Rob McGowan
Women’s Masters: Claerwen Snell, KJ Boardman-Hims

The GB Oversight Committee can foresee some concern amongst UKU members that the Open, Women's and Mixed bids may appear to be quite London-centric and/or closely linked to a club.  These concerns have been reviewed in detail during the application process.  We cannot emphasise enough that we require the managers to run truly Great Britain teams that are absolutely not just an extension of club teams. Players from across the country are encouraged to attend trials.  The committee will be remaining involved with all team managers in all divisions throughout the 2015/2016 campaign to ensure that there is no deviation from this premise.
