1. EUC 2007

So - in case you missed it - GB put on a pretty good show at the European Ultimate Championships 2007. This started when Andy Kayley and his team in Southampton won the bidding process to run the event! A big thanks and congratulations to the Organising Team and anyone else that helped. Its hard work putting on such a big tournament and everyone involved should be proud of how well it ran! So - on behalf of the players that went to play, and the players and ex-players that went to watch... thanks!

On the playing front things also went pretty well as GB put a team in the final of every division and scooped up the Gold in Open, Mixed, Junior Women and Masters! Congrats all round!

So what next? Well - whilst most players went home to polish their medals, many of the GB Women headed off to Seattle to take part in the Emerald City Classic, an elite, invite-only tournament. They played some of the top teams in North America, including Fury and Riot, as well as the WUCC 2006 Champions, MUD (who had also made the trip) and got a taste of what to expect at Worlds next year!

2. Open and Women's Tour results

Clapham defended their Tour title with relative ease in the torrential Cardiff rain after Fire and Chevron had threatened to spoil things for them in the torrential Mansfield rain. The depth of competition continues to grow: 19 teams were involved in the A Tour, and only 12 could retain their place for all three events. ABH was the highest ranked team that didn't play in the A Tour.

Meanwhile in the Women's division, Leeds took the honours after winning in Mansfield and Cardiff. No doubt Iceni are warming up for revenge at Nationals this weekend. The Women's Tour continued to grow in 2007 with a total of 17 teams competing across the three events.

If you want to know more about Clapham's success why not ask Chain Lightning? Chain played in the semis of UPA Nationals in 2006, but were turned over by Clapham in the quarters of the Chesapeake Open last weekend on what has become an annual pilgrimage to the US for the London team.

3. Nationals/EUCR-W

Nationals takes place this weekend (1-2 Sept) in Kingston Upon Thames. This year the tournament has the added spice of being a qualification tournament to the European Ultimate Club Finals in Basel this October. For more information check out the Events page.

6. Membership Cards

You might have noticed that you haven't received membership cards. This is a very large task and so the Board recently decided to take a different approach. If you have some need - or would just like - a physical membership card, then please contact us and it will be sent to you. Otherwise, the "receipt" will remain electronic. Either way - please make sure that your membership contact details are up to date on the website.
