UKU Event Announcements

This newsletter is intended to provide a simple stream of information about UKU events. At the point of launch, the intention is that this will provide a definitive source of the most important information relating to UKU events: - dates - registration processes - news updates in the weeks preceding an event (e.g. schedule released, etc)

UKU Nationals 2021 - It's almost here!

Ahead of Nationals at the end of the month, we want to make sure that you have all of the information you need if you are one of the qualifying teams!

WMUCC Qualification

Thank you to all of the teams that confirmed their interest in WMUCC qualification!

As we don’t yet know the number of bids we’ll receive in any division, or even if all of the divisions are going ahead, we are proceeding on the assumption that we’ll receive at least one bid in each.

We have also determined that with the continuing uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, we will continue to use smaller fixture dates where possible. As such, this means that we have scheduled WMUCC qualification in line with how the Challenge League & National Series fixtures have been managed so far. For the majority of the divisions, we only have a small number of teams interested so these teams will be expected to play each other on a single fixture day. However, for the Master Mixed division, due to the high number of teams interested, each team will be required to play on two different fixture dates so that all of the games can be played. The full details of what this looks like in practice can be seen in the WMUCC qualification document linked to below.

UKU Indoor Events Provisional Calendar 2021-22 (Junior, University & Club)

Following the continued easing of restrictions across the UK, we are releasing our provisional calendar for the 2021-22 indoor events so that your clubs can start to tentatively plan your season.

However, we feel that it’s important to highlight that we remain extremely cautious about the feasibility of these events going ahead due to the uncertainty that remains around COVID-19. Whilst we have listed the dates for the indoor season below, there are still some events that do not have venues yet, and where we have managed to source venues, the bookings remain provisional where possible. It is also conceivable that we may need to change the way that our indoor tournaments are run to ensure that COVID-19 risks are considered and venue requirements met.

UKU National Championships 2021 - Implementation of Ratio Rule A & Gendered Pulling

For the National Championships 2021, it has been agreed by the UKU Competitions Committee that Ratio Rule A and the addition to the “Prescribed Gender Ratio” rule -- that, for all games, a player representing the gender with 4 players on the field must pull for that point -- will be implemented. This is following WFDF & EUF’s announcements of this addition at the World Games and XEUCF 2021.

XEUCF 2021 Bid Allocation

Further to our previous announcement here and following additional clarification on fees by the EUF, we have now confirmed how the bids will be allocated for XEUCF 2021.

Due to the success of the National Series competition structure so far, we have taken the decision to use UKU Nationals 2021 results to determine which teams will qualify to XEUCF 2021.(*)
