1. GB Women: Beach World Champions!

Massive Congratulations to the Beach GB Women team that came back from the World Championships in Brazil with a GOLD MEDAL! The first GB ultimate team to become World Champions? Think so. Nice job.

The Masters clearly came very close themselves but had to be content with silver after what sounds like a tough and exciting final with the US. GB Open and Mixed finished 4th and 7th respectively.

We hope to have some more details and pictures up on the website early next week. In the meantime you can find plenty more infomation on the tournament website and blockstack.

2. Ro-Sham-Bo make it 3-in-a-row

Earlier in December the Uni Indoor National finals saw Edinburgh Uni maintain their stranglehold over the student game - winning the indoor event for the 3rd year in a row. A solid victory over the resurgent Warwick Bears in the final was thrown into some confusion when the final was halted with 16 seconds to go by a fire alarm... The new perpetual trophy was presented by Richard Hicks, who founded Warwick Bears in 1977 and admitted that he had been hoping the result would go the other way!

This was also the first indoor nationals to be held on 3G astroturf - the feedback was very positive.

3. Membership 2008

UKUA Membership now runs for one year from purchase - so you don't need to purchase membership just because its the New Year (oh - Happy New Year by the way). You should receive an email reminder when your membership is due to run out.

When you do renew we are pleased to announce that this year's membership also includes a free copy of "Flat Out" the EUC 2007 DVD. Your chance to re-live the only ultimate of 2007 that wasn't played in ankle deep mud - and of course watch GB pick up a few gold and silver medals too.

If you renew your membership early in order to obtain your copy of the DVD asap please note that:

(i) Your contact details on the website must be up to date.

(ii) You will NOT be penalized for the early renewal and your membership will be adjusted to run to one year from the current expiry date.

Please also note:

4. Board Elections

Its that time again. Our sport relies heavily on players volunteering to help organise how the game is run in the UK. The Board's job is to make sure that the UKUA has clear goals to ensure a thriving UK ultimate scene. If you'd like to get involved please get in touch to find out more about what is involved - or just go ahead and send your manifesto to admin[at]ukultimate[dot]com.

For more information on how the organisation works please see the website.

Manifestos should be submitted by end of Jan 2008, with voting taking place in the first two weeks of Feb.
