1. WFDF Rules of Ultimate 2007

Major changes include:

1. Introduction of a "Callahan" point, when the Defense intercepts a pass from the Offence in the End Zone they are currently scoring in.

2. When the Offense commits an uncontested foul/violation (i.e. travel, thrower fouls marker) the count stays where it was at the time of the foul or comes in on 9, (if the count was at 9 or above) rather than coming in on 6 if the count was at 6 or above.

3. Pick rule has been adjusted a bit to add a distance between the receiver and marker (5 Meters) for when a pick can be called.

4. Touched pull that rolls out of bounds comes in at the perimeter line, not the goal line if it goes out the endzone

5. Section Marker Violations have been added.

6. “Technical stoppage” now allowed during stopped play with approval of the offensive team.

Please look here for the full story and for links to download your own copy - including a version that can be printed on a single sheet of paper.

2. Registration on the website

Thanks to all those people that have already registered on the website and updated their membership. Please remind your team mates that - as Tour 0 is approaching - they will need to update their UKUA membership soon.

Please also fill in your name and address. Its not visible to other people - but we will need that information to send you Ultimatum 2007 later in the year.

To register with your team you go to your team's page on the website and click on the "Request Membership" link on the right hand side.

We have a new method for connecting your club membership on the website to tournament rosters. We will run a trial of this for Tour 0 - so club contacts should look out for more news on this shortly.

3. Indoor Nationals

Congratulations to Mexican Horse Bandits for becoming UK National Indoor Champions 2007 (and winning spirit at the same time). Full results are available here.

4. U17 Indoor Nationals

Congratulations to Ocelots for winning the 2007 U17 Indoor National Championships this month. A tournament report and full results are available here.

5. Coaching Scheme

The UKUA Coaching Scheme continues to progress. In February we ran - for the first time - the "Leader Award" course. This is aimed at sports teachers or youth group leaders that are familiar with running sport groups, but have little or no experience of ultimate. The session was a great success - and we have two more sessions already booked for March and April. More information is available here.

7. Want to help?

The UKUA is looking to create some small teams of volunteers to help bring some order to the following areas:

- Tournament Formats/Schedules

- Website, Email, Communications (from technical perspective)

- News Reporting on the website - especially tournament write-ups and results

If you would like to be involved with one of these please send a short email to admin(at)ukultimate(dot)com. NB - this is not an effort to drum up more help - just make it easier for people to get involved with things in a reasonably well defined way - if they want to!

8. Nationals / EUCR

A quick reminder about changes to Nationals in 2007 - and possibly beyond - depending on feedback. Please look here for more details.

There has been very little feedback so far - and that feedback has been very evenly split between for and against.
