UKU Junior Mixed Outdoor Nationals 2019-20 - Results & Spirit Standings

Thank you to everyone who attended UK Ultimate's first Junior Mixed Outdoor Nationals event on Saturday! Close games, exciting play, great Spirit and surprisingly favourable weather combined to make it a memorable and highly enjoyable day!

The Under-17 Division featured a wide range of experience levels, from those attending their first event having played for just a few weeks, through to some who represented GB in Poland this summer. The division final saw tournament regulars Evolution (Aylesford School, Warwick) take on first-time school Wyvern St Edmunds 2 (Wyvern College & St Edmund's School, Salisbury). Congratulations go to Evolution for being crowned our first ever Under-17 Mixed Outdoor National Champions, following a series of dominant displays!

The Junior Division was a much tighter affair, with close games at both ends of the rankings. Though Flux 2 (Twycross House School, Twycross) put in a great performance (in a thrilling game for the neutral spectator), they couldn't stop Evolution from topping the division and securing the double as our first Junior Mixed Outdoor National Champions (their first championship win since their 2012 JWIN victory)!

Huge congratulations go to our runaway Spirit of the Game winners in both divisions! In the Under-17 Division, the award went to TBCC (Thomas Bennett Community College, Crawley), attending just their second UKU event. Meanwhile, the winners in the Junior Division were Bristol Mythago (University of Bristol).

The full results and breakdown can be found here:

It was particularly pleasing to note that all spirit scores at this event were submitted on time and in full by all teams, with a number choosing to leave comments too. Doing so helps other teams to continuously improve their Spirit, leading to better, more enjoyable games in the future. Well done to all teams for recording an average score of at least 10 across the event!
