University Committee Elections - new Mixed Coordinator and applications reopened for Scottish Coordinator

The window for applications for Mixed Coordinator has now closed. There was only one candidate who put themselves forward for the role, so we are happy to welcome Sarah Harrison to the University Committee as Mixed Coordinator for a term of 2 years. We are excited to have Sarah on the committee and look forward to working with her. There is some further information about Sarah and her plans for the Mixed division below.

We received no applications for the Scottish Coordinator role so are reopening applications for a further 2 weeks, the new deadline is Friday 23rd May. The position will be awarded for a 2-year term, although this is flexible. The Scottish Regional coordinator is the first point of contact for all Scottish University teams. They are responsible for addressing any issues that arise from Scottish teams or tournaments and maintaining communications within this region. They should be interested in the development of Ultimate in Scotland. Along with the divisional coordinators, they will provide seeding, scheduling and support to the Scottish region. They are expected to contribute to the overall smooth running and decision making processes of the UCC.

If you have any questions about the role please email Chris or Robbie.

Sarah Harrison
My name is Sarah Harrison, and I have been playing Ultimate for nearly 5 years now. Ultimate has been such a big part of my life and I feel like it is time for me to give something back, and that is why I am running for the Mixed Co-ordinator role. Mixed Ultimate is an important factor of my improvement as a player. Mixed was strongly encouraged at University, and after playing for several seasons with Sheffield Steal, it became my favourite part of Ultimate and I was lucky enough to represent GB on the U23 Mixed squad.
The Mixed division is developing rapidly at University level, and I would like to develop it even further. I want this division to be accessible to all Universities, particularly to those who are up-and-coming and sometimes struggle to get a team together. I do also believe it’s important to encourage all abilities into the Mixed division so that we can look to expand mixed tournaments further. I would look to liase with participating universities to see how we can include their superstars as well as their beginners onto the same pitch and help make Mixed the most inviting division of them all.
