UKU U14 and U17 Open Indoor Championships 2021-22

UKU Under-14 and Under-17 Open Indoor Championship will be held at Aldersley Leisure Village in Wolverhampton (the same venue as the last few years).

Please note the later date of this competition compared to previous years.

Games will start at approximately 10am on the Saturday and we will aim for games to be finished at 5pm on the Sunday, followed by a short presentation/award ceremony.

Please note that unlike many other sports, Ultimate tournaments are always played out for position all the way down - so even teams ranked towards the lower end of their division will still play a Quarter, Semi and Final in their bracket. Even the most inexperienced team will still expect to play the same number of games as the winners - you don't get knocked out early at these events. Come and join in the fun!

Please enter your scores promptly after your games, and at the latest before midnight on on the last day of the event. Scores submitted after this time will not be included. For more information from the Spirit of the Game committee, please look here.

Please note, the SOTG winner is often awarded at the end of play on the last day of the event.

Times: Games will run from approx 10am to 6pm on Saturday, and from 9am to approx 5pm on Sunday.

  • ENTRIES OPEN: 10th January - 11th February.

All UKU events are entered by club administrators via their membership profile.

Further details about this event for club administrators can be found here.

The team fee for this event is £110.

It is possible that this event will be filled following the closing date for entries (we hope to be able to accommodate all entries made by the closing date). Any remaining spaces will be awarded on a first-come-first-served basis and it can't be guaranteed that you'll be awarded a spot, so make sure you enter before the deadline!

If the tournament is oversubscribed at the closing date, we will prioritise first teams from each institution, and then second teams above third, fourth …etc teams all the way down. If the cut-off happens to fall between teams at the same level (e.g. 4th teams from two institutions) then priority will go to whoever entered on the earliest date (or be decided by the drawing of lots if we can't separate them by date). Once the initial deadline has passed, places are confirmed, and the entry of a new first team will not 'bump' someone's 7th team. At this stage it's only first-come-first-served for any remaining places.

  • Eligibility:

There is no qualifying round, and no 'minimum standard' your team must meet - there will be teams of beginners participating. If you are a newly formed school team, this is still for you!

    • To be eligible for the UKU Under-17 division you must be in Year 11 or below (the rules for UK Domestic competition differ slightly to International competition).

    • To be eligible for the UKU Under-14 division you must be in Year 8 or below.

Players playing for UKU-affiliated schools playing as school teams are not required to have membership.

All other players must have minimum Basic Membership of UK Ultimate.

As the tournament is in the Open division, there are no gender restrictions. All male teams, all female teams, or mixed teams of any ratio are fine.

If you are a player or a small group of players without enough for a full team, then it may be possible to arrange for you to join up with another team. We simply need you to explain your situation by emailing events@ukultimate.com and we will confirm whether there’s an appropriate team for you to join.

Please also note that eligibility decisions are made by volunteers so please get in touch early.

    Accommodation:

If you need accommodation places such as www.travelodge.co.uk often have good deals there are a number of Youth Hostels nearby (www.yha.org.uk). If you are really struggling for accommodation, please get in touch and we will try to assist with suggestions, but we do not offer accommodation as part of the event.

    Team Sizes and Planning:

You must have the appropriate ratios of adult supervision for the event. We also strongly recommend that all teams plan to have a non-playing adult travelling with the team.

Please don’t enter a team unless you have at least 8 fit players able to travel, although more than this is recommended.

    Multiple Teams:

Clubs/schools are welcome to enter more than one team. In the event that the tournament becomes oversubscribed, clubs entering multiple additional teams may find lower ranked teams placed on a waiting list.
