Club Affiliation

Why Affiliate?

  • Affiliation helps develop formal and clear relationships between UKU and clubs as organisations, which has mutual benefits.

  • A network of affiliated clubs will help provide clarity around opportunities for players, including juniors and those new to the sport.

  • Affiliation means that UKU can extend liability insurance to club committees at a low cost to the club.

  • Affiliation helps clubs adopt structures and governance that will better enable them to run successfully, safely and to apply for funding and grants.

Notes and requirements:

  • Affiliated clubs must have a constitution, risk assessments in place for training, and report certain incidents or injuries (the UKU risk assessment template and guidance can be found below).

  • Teams formed for one-off events are not eligible for club affiliation.

  • Club Affiliation is not applicable to University clubs or Schools teams (please see our School Affiliation).

  • ALL CLUB MEMBERS must be at least basic members of UK Ultimate - this is an insurance requirement.

  • New players are allowed three "taster sessions" during which they are considered to be insured before they have to make a commitment to UKU membership.

  • Clubs must work towards adopting UKU Safeguarding Adults Policy and Procedures.

  • Clubs with U18s must have Child Safeguarding policy - start here.

  • Affiliation costs £50.00, and needs to be purchased by your club administrator on Just Go.

  • Affiliation runs with a fixed renewal date based on the calendar year from 1st Jan - 31st Dec (this is different to our membership year). Affiliation purchased in December will run through to the end of the following year.

    • Over time we will gradually increase the number of clubs required to have affiliation.

    • We hope to be able to do more work with and for affiliated clubs.

    • To books some venues or for certain work, clubs may be asked for credentials such as being recognised by the governing body or proof of insurance.

    • Please note that the benefits provided by club affiliation may not extend to your coach who requires their own registration and credentials.
