UKU Coach Register

The UKU Coach Register is a list of Ultimate coaches approved by UK Ultimate. Maintaining an up-to-date register is essential to ensuring the safety of all participants in the sport.

Anyone working (either in a paid or voluntary capacity) as an Ultimate Coach should be on the UKU Coach Register. There are certain requirements for Coaches to join the register including coaching qualifications and other training (as required by the context of your coaching). It is up to you to understand the context of your coaching, but if you could not be considered a player within the club you are coaching in, then you are a coach and should be on the register!

Those employing an Ultimate coach are responsible for checking a coach’s credentials and registration status.

Coaches can join the register, as long as all requirements are adhered to, for £5 (admin fee).

For coaches who want the benefits of UKU Coach Membership (which includes access to UK Ultimate public liability insurance along with other benefits) registration is included for free with the cost of the membership.

    • Minimum UKU Level 1 qualification

    • Safeguarding training appropriate to your level of coaching

    • DBS (if appropriate for your coaching set-up)

    • First Aid plan (appropriate for your coaching set-up and venue)

    • Coaching insurance*

*UKU Coach Membership provides access to UKU public liability and professional indemnity insurance as one of the member benefits. Alternatively, coaches could consider UK Coaching membership or similar.

(Coaches working with GB teams are covered by UKU insurance but only for their work with GB squads)

It is a requirement of the UKU Level 1 qualification that you sign the UKU Code of Conduct for coaches (this is signed digitally by adding as a credential to your profile.) Anyone on the UKU Coach Register must also sign up to the Code of Conduct (you can read the code below, but you must also add it as a credential to your profile).

When employing a coach, either on a paid or voluntary basis, you are responsible for checking their credentials.
