UKU Coach Education courses are for those who want to start coaching Ultimate or those who are continuing their Ultimate coaching journey. Courses are for sports coaches, teachers, parents, young leaders, players and ex-players and for those already coaching Ultimate.
Coaching Ultimate - getting started!
If you are already a sports coach or teacher take a look at the options below to learn more about Ultimate.
If you are a player, retired player or parent and you are getting into coaching for the first time you will need to consider the following:
Coaching qualifications (see below)
Do you know what your First Aid plan will be?
Do you need to consider a safeguarding policy or plan?
Do you need any additional training or paperwork? You might need a DBS or specific training for the group you are working with?
Do you need to arrange you own insurance? How will you be covered?

Theses courses for teachers, sports coaches and young leaders who are new to the sport of Ultimate

For teachers and sports coaches who want activator-style training. This the perfect option for those who want to start introducing Ultimate in their school.

The workshop is 2 - 2.5 hours and covers the basics of playing and coaching Ultimate. The course is designed for those coaching children or adults new to the sport.
We will come to you at a time that suits. We need you to provide a suitable space to run the course (a sports hall, Astro or 3G pitch are great. The space needs to be at least the size of a full netball court).
After the course we will send you a digital resource pack and certificates.
Minimum 8 people.

We send a coach to you at a time that suits. We just need you to provide a suitable space (a sports hall, grass or astro pitch. Concrete surfaces are not suitable). To book, please email coaching@ukultimate.com

For young leaders from year 7 upwards. This can be run in combination with a Foundation Award for teachers.

Empowering young leaders is a great way to help embed Ultimate in your school.
The workshop is 1.5 - 2 hours and covers the basics of playing and coaching Ultimate. The course is designed to help young leaders deliver Ultimate in their schools.
We will come to you at a time that suits. We need you to provide a suitable space to run the course (a sports hall, Astro or 3G pitch are great. The space needs to be at least the size of a full netball court).
After the course we will send a digital resource pack and certificates.
Minimum 8 people, max 16.

For coaches, teachers, students and young leaders who want a Level 1 qualification in Ultimate.

This is a full day (roughly 5-6 hours) course which covers the basics of how to play and coach Ultimate.
There are both practical and classroom elements to give you the opportunity to develop and practice skills, explore how Spirit of the Game works and have fun playing Ultimate and other disc-based games.
We will come to you at a time that suits. We need you to provide a suitable space to run the course (a sports hall, Astro or 3G pitch are great for the practical. The space needs to be at least the size of a full netball court. We also need a classroom with a projector).

We send a coach to you at a time that suits. We need you to provide a suitable practical space (sports hall, grass or astro pitch) and a classroom with internet access and a projector.

£85 per person for a minimum of 6 people.

For teachers and sports coaches who want activator-style training. This the perfect option for those who want to start introducing Ultimate in schools.

This is an online and self-led version of our in-person course. It is divided into 3 parts:
Part 1: UKU introductory video.
Part 2: Self-led practical based on UKU plan.
Part 3: Virtual meeting with a representative from UKU to ask any questions, review your practical session and plan your next steps.
After the course we will send you a digital resource pack and certificates.

£50 per person up to 5 people after which it is a flat rate of £250 for as many teachers as you like.
Please note, you will need to purchase discs before you’re able to complete the self-led practical.

For coaches who already have the following qualifications:
UKU Level 1 or Level 1 X
and
A Level 2 qualification or higher in another invasion sport (please be aware we cannot accept Level 2 qualifications obtained on day-long courses)

This is a top-up option for coaches with appropriate qualifications.

After purchasing your Level 2 Transfer using the payment button, you will need to carry out the following steps:
Create a UKU membership profile if you don’t already have one.
Email the following to coaching@ukultimate.com:
Your UKU Membership number
Your UKU Level 1 / Level 1X certificate
Your Level 2 certificate in another invasion sport.
We will then activate your Level 2 Transfer and send you your certificate.

The courses listed below are for those who have played Ultimate or who are already coaching Ultimate

For Ultimate players with a minimum of 6 months to a year’s experience of playing.

This is the first step on the UKU Coaching pathway for players who want to coach or lead, whether that be in schools, university clubs, adult clubs or even GB Futures hubs.
The qualification is divided into 5 modules which are accessed online:
Module 1: Teaching Beginners
Module 2: Coaching Responsibilities
Module 3: Coaching Fundamentals
Module 4: Ultimate Skills
Module 5: Spirit of the Game

This qualification is now completed online and accessed via our Coach Education material that is FREE for UKU members.
To complete the Level 1 qualification you will need to:
Add WFDF Advanced Rules Accreditation certificate to your membership profile.
Sign up to the UKU Code of Conduct for coaches (also via your membership profile).
Pay the Level 1 qualification fee
Submit your logbook for assessment.

Access to the course materials is free for UKU members. The Level 1 qualification fee is £20.*

Ultimate players and coaches who already have a UKU Level 1 qualification.

This qualification is modular. It requires coaches to collate a total of 32 credits from a number of modules.
Course structure:
Unit 0 - practical
Unit 1 - core classroom modules
Unit 2 - your coaching in practice
Unit 3 - additional credits from external organisations

We are updating the UKU Level 2 material and moving the majority online. If you would like to start your Level 2, please consider additional credits from external providers (UK Coaching is a great starting point).

This overall cost will vary. Where possible we hope to provide as much of our material as we can online and free for members.
Some modules will not be free of charge, and there will be a qualification fee.
