UKU JOIN 27-28 January 2024 - Alan Higgs Schedule Available
The schedule for JOIN, taking place on 27-28 January at Alan Higgs, is now available here.
Our schedules remain subject to change if teams are forced to withdraw, and if their withdrawal has a substantial impact on the schedule for one or more other teams.
Information for participants is on the event page. Some important messages may be added to the Header page of the schedule.
In particular please remember:
There is a cafe on site, but we advise participants to bring some food and snacks.
This venue has rubber crumb (3G) pitches. Alan Higgs has a new pitch so this is new and important info. All players/coaches should, if possible, have moulded studs. No blades or metal studs, or flat shoes/astros will be permitted. We understand that spectators should be able to wear trainers but are in the process of checking this with the venue. If spectators do have moulded studs, please wear these if possible.
Only water/sports drinks can be consumed on the pitches, no food or hot drinks.
Bring warm clothes to wear between games as the venue can be quite cold.
There is plenty of parking onsite.
Please don’t take all of your stuff to the playing area. Essentials such as water or inhalers can be kept on the sidelines during play but they MUST be kept a safe distance from the edge of the pitch.
Membership
Pupils from UKU Affiliated Schools can compete for their school at this event without UKU membership.
All other UK-resident players, including those who are playing with a school team but do not attend that school, must have at least Basic UKU membership.
Eligibility
Following on from previous communication, player eligibility rules are unchanged for this tournament and for the remainder of this academic year. We have received some feedback around suggested changes that have led us to decide that a longer period of consultation is required before making adjustments to this rule set. However,we remain committed to reviewing the youth eligibility rules to ensure the widest possible level of participation in the division and equity for players for whom educational establishments do not yet have ultimate teams or the opportunity to compete.
Specifically for this event SFU are being treated as a pick-up team and as per rule 8.1.2-2.2.4, (a) their pool results all count in full (b) they cannot play in the final.
