Join the UKU University Committee

There are currently a number of important vacancies on the UKU University committee. Volunteering at UKU is a great way to get more involved in Ultimate, build your CV and be part of the development of the sport. Please keep reading for more details.

The UKU University committee is made up of volunteers who oversee the university side of Ultimate. For more details about the role of the committee and its members see the Terms of Reference.

Firstly we are looking for a new University Coordinator, the chairperson of the committee, and a member of the UK Ultimate board of directors. Please also see this post for more information.

We are also looking for the following coordinator roles to be filled:

Women’s Coordinator (appointed by selection):

This role is the divisional lead for the Women’s division on the University committee with a focus on competition format, seedings and the promotion and relegation of teams in the Women’s division, whilst also representing female-matching players in general.

Spirit of the game Coordinator (appointed by selection):

This coordinator will have a split role between the University Committee and SOTG Committee. They will be a key link between the two committees and get involved in reviewing spirit scores from tournaments, dealing with any spirit issues that may arise as well as generally helping the two committees!

Northern Coordinator (elected):

The elected regional roles are the first point of contact for queries and general communication in their region. This also includes admin of the regional communication group on WhatsApp.

The Women’s and SOTG coordinator roles are selected in a process led by existing members of the committee with support from UKU staff. The Northern Coordinator role is elected from the UKU membership. If you want to help us shape university Ultimate and would like to apply for any of these volunteer roles, please ensure that you meet the following requirements:

  • Able to offer 1–2 hours (total) per week

  • Approachable / personable

  • Reliable

  • Takes initiative

  • Able to commit to online committee meetings, approx. every 4-6 weeks

There are also opportunities to take on other responsibilities should you want to. This is a great way to add something unique to your CV, as well as your experience within Ultimate, and we will be happy to provide you with a reference further down the line should that be useful.

If you are interested, please email admin@ukultimate.com by the end of October with the following information:

  • Your name, email and mobile number.

  • Please indicate your gender in your own terms.

  • The role(s) for which you are standing, including your preference if you have one.

  • A short “application statement” about yourself and your reasons for wanting to join the committee. In order to provide some standardisation we suggest these are no more than 300 words long. If you are finding this overly restrictive please let us know.

If you miss this deadline, please still get in touch. There are other opportunities to volunteer and we can pass your details on to the appropriate people if these roles are filled.

If you have any questions, or would like to speak to current or recent members of the committee, please get in touch.
